An extension to a mid-terraced Victorian dwelling in need of a larger Kitchen with dining space for a family of four.
These dwellings are often extended without thought on a multitude and spatial requirements to the original building form. How do you extend and infill such a dwelling without loosing daylight to the inner room.
In this scenario, we introduce the internal courtyard to allow for the inner room to maintain outlook, interest and daylight whilst allowing us to extend the property in a manner that offers all the benefits of open plan living, and achieves the required and separation privacy for cloakrooms and utility spaces.
To add further interest to the interior, we have included an oriel window at the rear that allows residents to sit and read inside the Kitchen, set in an enclosure that feels part of the garden.
